An away game against a team two divisions above us in the past would have been a cricket score, however, the U16s have now developed into a team prepared to mix it with anyone.
Teddington are a well drilled side with a good squad of players and from the off Staines were on the back foot. Some determined defence kept them out for some time before they were able to cross for a try. Their kicker was on form and made most of the conversions.
after conceding a couple more tries Staines hit back with one of their own to register some points and end the half with a score to their name.
The second half was a closer affair with Staines conceding a couple of tries before answering back with the last try of the game.
Although a loss, all the Staines U16s players performed and made the game competitive. Hopefully a sign of things to come for the rest of the season.
